ഒട്ടേറെ പുരാത ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളുടെ നാടാണ് ഇന്ത്യ. ഐതിഹ്യങ്ങളും നിഗൂഢതകളും ഉറങ്ങുന്ന നിരവധി ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളും പല സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലും ഉണ്ട്. ഇക്കൂട്ടത്തിലൊന്നാണ് എല്ലാ ദിവസവും രണ്ടു തവണ അപ്രത്യക്ഷമാകുന്ന ഗുജറാത്തിലെ ഒരു ശിവ ക്ഷേത്രം. സ്തംഭേശ്വര്‍ മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം (sree stambheshwar mahadev) എന്ന പേരിലുള്ള അധികമൊന്നും അറിയപ്പെടാത്ത ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ഗുജറാത്തിലെ ജംസുബറിലെ കാവി കംബോയ് ഗ്രാമത്തിലാണ് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. തരകാസുരനെ പരാജയപ്പെടുത്തി ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തില്‍ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ നടത്തിയത് കാര്‍ത്തികേയന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള ദേവന്മാരാണെന്നാണ് വിശ്വാസം. ഇതിനെ ചുറ്റിപ്പറ്റിയുള്ള പല ഐതിഹ്യങ്ങളും ഉണ്ട്.
അറബിക്കടലിനും കാംബെ ഉള്‍ക്കടലിനുമിടയില്‍ തീരത്താണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. വേലിയേറ്റമുണ്ടാകുമ്പോള്‍ വെള്ളത്തില്‍ മുങ്ങി അപ്രത്യക്ഷമാകുകയും വേലിയിറക്ക സമയത്ത് വീണ്ടും പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെടുന്നതുമാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ സവിശേഷത. ശ്രീകോവില്‍ പൂര്‍ണമായും കടലില്‍ മുങ്ങും. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ മുകള്‍ ഭാഗം മാത്രമെ ഈ സമയത്ത് വെള്ളത്തിനു മുകളില്‍ കാണൂ.
ഈ കാഴ്ച കാണാന്‍ കഴിയുന്ന തരത്തിലാണ് സന്ദര്‍ശകര്‍ ക്ഷേത്ര ദര്‍ശനം ആസൂത്രണം ചെയ്യേണ്ടത്. ഒരു പകലും രാത്രിയുമെങ്കിലും വേണം. അതിരാവിലെ കുറഞ്ഞ വേലിയേറ്റ സമയങ്ങളില്‍ ക്ഷേത്രം പൂര്‍ണമായി കാണാനും ശാന്തസുന്ദരമായ അന്തരീക്ഷത്തില്‍ ദര്‍ശനം നടത്താനും കഴിയും. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനു സമീപത്തുള്ള ആശ്രമത്തില്‍ ഭക്തര്‍ക്ക് സൗജന്യ ഉച്ചഭക്ഷണവും ലഭ്യമാണ്. സായാഹ്നത്തോടെ ക്ഷേത്രം വെള്ളത്തില്‍ അപ്രത്യക്ഷമാകുന്ന കാഴ്ചയും കാണാം.
